I am thinking of making another attempt at the Ojito wilderness hike, but I want to combine it with spirituality and journaling. Personally, I feel that land is sacred, and I propose a hike with a picnic stop at the abandoned shepherd's hut and I propose that participants bring a journal of some sort along with their lunch. I'd encourage participants to write for about ten minutes what ever impressions they come up with. WE could share the written impressions. It's sort of a hike combined with a mini-writers; group. I'm not sure your regulars will go for it, but it's an opportunity to offer a "twist" on the traditional hike.

We'll be gathering at the Day of the Dead parade on November 1. There's a short (30 min) parade. People line the parade route in skeleton costumes and face paint. It's got an authentic small-town feel to it, and some very creative costumes. Bring your camera. The parade begins about 30 mins before sunset, and is followed by food and drumming in nearby Westside Park. The center of the parade route is Isleta Blvd and Arenal Road SW. We'll be standing on the SE corner of Isleta and Arenal. Email Marshall at marshall.mourar@gmail.com for more information.
