Albuquerque Pride Opens Its Office as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender Resource Center

Albuquerque Pride:  A recent rise in reporting gay teen suicides across the country has made our local GLBT community more aware of the lack of resources in our own city. With the political scene changing in New Mexico and hopes of a GLBT marriage bill or a domestic partnership bill dwindling, Albuquerque Pride Inc, the largest GLBT Event in the State of New Mexico is opening the Pride GLBT Resource Center (Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender) in the City of Albuquerque. The center has a GLBT library filled with videos and books. Other features include: wireless internet, coffee room, administrative office, Pride Coordinator office, an Executive office. The center will offer counseling services, while providing a safe haven for the community. The GLBT resource center will be the first of its kind in Albuquerque!

“It is time we stand to the occasion by educating; bring awareness, and continue to become a unified community to help those in the GLBT family. It is also a pivotal point in time to begin educating others that may lack tolerance or knowledge of the GLBT Community,” Says Jesse A. Lopez, President of Albuquerque Pride, Inc.  “We look forward to working with political leaders and others to keep the doors open to this much needed Pride Resource Center.”

The opening of this resource center marks a new day for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community. Starting Wednesday, December 8th there is a place for locals and visitors alike to obtain vital information on the City Of Albuquerque’s GLBT lifestyle.

Open Tuesday through Thursday 1:00pm - 5:00pm
2610 San Mateo Blvd NE Suite E
