There are activities, events and shows going on throughout the year. Your best bet would be to pick up The Weekly ALBI, which is available at hundreds of locations, including supermarkets, bookstores and newsstands throughout the city.
Albuquerque has a venerable reputation and a rich history spanning close to 300 years and is located between the Sandia mountains and a volcanic ridge along the Rio Grande which, in addition to spectacular scenic beauty, offer many options for the outdoors and athletic minded adventurer. Hiking, biking, camping, horse-back riding, downhill and cross country skiing, canoeing, hot air ballooning, white water rafting, and other outdoor activities are all easily accessed from the city.
Popular day trips include pueblos of the Zuni, Apache and Navajo nations, hikes in the increasingly rare high desert habitats, Petroglyph National Forest, and the Indian owned casinos.
Local area attractions include the Albuquerque Biological Park, Museums, Historic Old Town, The Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway, to name a few.
