Allison Ogawa (they/she) is a medical student and Medical Humanities Fellow at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Allison's fellowship research explores the experiences of LGBTQ+ older adults living in New Mexico during the Covid-19 pandemic. Allison's work is grounded in storytelling and draws from the practices of narrative medicine, ethnography, and creative writing. Their goal is to help share the stories of LGBTQ+ New Mexicans in the ~60+ age range with a focus on themes of resilience, health and healing, community, and autonomy. Allison is especially interested in speaking with people of color, people with chronic diseases, people with diverse housing situations and anyone who feels they have been impacted by the pandemic.
